I have lived in Salisbury over 25 years and served as a Wiltshire Councillor for 16, including 4 years in the Cabinet. I stood down at the last election, heading ‘for pastures new.’ But I really miss life as a councillor, so am seeking to re-enter the political arena.
Having represented St Francis & Stratford for many years, I am in the process of moving to Fisherton & Bemerton Village, with no chain either way. So I am ready to represent people in this part of the city, should they choose to elect me. I am keen to support the excellent community-building projects in Bemerton Heath, and the strong Green lobby in Bemerton Village echoes my deep concern about the climate crisis. I am a committed Christian and family is very important to me.
Before serving as a councillor, I have worked for IBM, a local secondary school, and for Parenting for Faith. I have a BSc Hons in Economics and Philosophy and a Masters in Kingdom Theology. Voluntary roles in Salisbury have included Publicity Officer for Churches Together and Chair of Students Exploring Marriage. National roles: Parliamentary Officer for Pioneer Churches, Trustee of the Conservative Christian Fellowship, and Spokesperson for grassroots Conservatives. I was on the Parliamentary Candidates list, and shortlisted for a seat.
As a Conservative, I want to enable individuals and families to do what we can, and so enable the Council to do what we cannot. As a councillor, I intend to listen carefully and respond promptly to local residents, and hope to help restore trust in politicians. I would like to be known as someone who promises less and delivers more.
