GREAT NEWS FOR SALISBURY AS CITY HALL REOPENS, AND ANOTHER CONSERVATIVE-LED POLICY COMES TO FRUITION
Wiltshire Conservatives are delighted that Salisbury City Hall is re-opening. When the venue closed during covid lockdown and was then used as a vaccination centre, the Conservative administration committed to it re-opening as a live entertainment venue. Historically City Hall relied on Wiltshire Council funding but given the continuing pressures on funding for statutory services, particularly Adult Social Care, Conservative Wiltshire Council was clear that City Hall needed to be viable on a commercial basis in the long-term.
It is excellent news that agreement was reached with a new operator to open City Hall by the Conservative-led administration earlier this year, following exceptional work by officers to find a partner to run the venue. This has included significant renovation works to ensure the building is fit for use well into the future.
Richard Clewer, Conservative Group Leader said “Many of us have fond memories of attending events at City Hall – personally I thought the Wurzels were great! It will be wonderful to see live music and events in City Hall again, and for years to come.”
